• Losses due to damage to the ship itself and its equipment are insured;
• Insured losses arise due to the civil liability of the shipowner or the lawful operator of the ship against third parties while using the insured ship.

Marine insurance compensates for losses arising from any sudden and unexpected events, except for specific cases listed in the insurance rules (non-insurable events).
